Have questions or ideas you want to share with the Board, we want to hear from you. The TWST Board meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm with the first half-hour open to parents. Can't make the meeting but have a suggestion, email us at twstswim@gmail.com.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9th in the Orchard Park High School cafeteria at 7:00pm.
Things to remember:
Parents please have your swimmers to practice approximately 5 - 10 minutes prior to the start of practice so they are ready to meet with their coaches and get in the water.
All swimmers should have goggles for practice. (If they have a pair of goggles that they like, it is a good idea to have a back up pair.)
Water bottles are good to have in your swimmers swim bags as they do get a good workout in lessons. Swimmers in Levels 4 & 5 should have water bottles for practice.
Girls should be using swim caps. One piece suits are preferred. If in search of swim suits: try SWIM CITY located on McKinley Parkway (TJMaxx Plaza).
It is encouraged that boys wear team caps in swim meets, so why not get them used to wearing them during practice. Most swimmers prefer Silicone caps. Best suits for the boys to wear are swim 'jammers'. Regular recreational swim suits will 'drag' the swimmers which slows them down.
POLYESTER material in swim suits are best as they hold up better in the Chlorine, where Lycra tends to break down with continued chlorine exposure. If you rinse suits out after each use will get more wear out of them.
Have your swimmers 'prep' for the
meet by having them write the following on their hand before they arrive
to the meet (with a fine tip Sharpie is preferred) so they know what
event, heat, lane they are swimming in. When they get to the EAST meet,
they can find out what heat and lane they are swimming in for each event
and just fill in those. You can use the Meet Entry sheet you
received this week as a guide.
EXAMPLE:
E# | name | H | L |
# 5 | 50 Fr | | |
# 11| 25 BR | | |
(leave H & L spaces blank until the kids get them off the roster sheet
posted at the meet)

Swim Rules Enforced by Niagara Swimming Officials at Meets: TWST Swimmers cannot wear caps or suits with logos or names other than TWST. Swimmers can wear blank or generic caps and suits. Swim caps with images like flowers or “Eat my Bubbles” are okay. A Michael Phelps cap is not ok at meets. A TWST swimmer cannot wear a cap or suit or with a swimmer’s name, swim camp, summer club, high school or college logo. Officials have been instructed to enforce this rule. If a swimmer gets on the blocks with attire representing a different team, they will be disqualified. Additionally, beginning May 2009, 12 & under swimmers will not be permitted to wear swim suits that extend past their knees or shoulders (i.e., no full body or full leg skins). Suits that extend as far as the knee are acceptable
